This week has been pretty uneventfull. Just playing my insturments and drawing. my brother had come down from GP so we hung out. Actually, we went quading and we come across a puddle,(massive understatment) and Daniel just went through it and managed to sink the quad. Had a great time laughing. Here’s something I drew this week.

I have been drawing for only about 6 months and I’m not that good. This is my first tribal, which didn’t really go that well, but I figured I’d share it.

Where self-image starts

I was listening to the radio a few weeks back and the DJ had shared an interesting fact. 90% of women don’t think that they are beautiful. She had asked the listeners to share their thoughts on this tidbit. One lady had called in saying that women are just that modest, we don’t want to seem vain. WHAT!?! My first thought was, Us as humans are so full of pride that very, very few people think that way. Definitely not 90%. Another caller came one and this man had it straight. As long as there are airbrushed models on the cover of magazines at the supermarket checkout, people are going to feel bad about them selves. “And those who don’t need to wake up and smell the coffee.” Well said.

Not only does magazines affect our self-image, but so do our fathers and father-figures. Our dads need to tell us that we are beautiful. Unfortunately, not many do. My dad doesn’t but he is also very quiet and doesn’t share much about what he feels. Too many times have teenagers had a boyfriend because they had no father figure. They want to feel needed so they lay down and do whatever their boyfriend wants so that he doesn’t leave her. That’s how my friends go pregnant.

We as women need to understand that God created us and if we think we are ugly, than we are telling Him he made a mistake. God doesn’t make mistakes.
